| "Miss Amanda" was created in 2013 when Celebrity Cruises posted a position for a Cultural Historian for Alaska, a first time opportunity for any ship. I'd been giving talks on Europe and Asia on ships for decades and this gave me a chance to create a character that would bring the vital cultural history of alaska alive. I took a chance that guests would relate to an "alaskan madame" due to the fact that prostitution was the number 1 industry in alaska til 1950. This spicy, sassy, southern belle has charmed over 30,000 guests with her photographically stunning shows on Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau and victoria, bringing the crucial history of these ports to life and never to be forgotten.
